The Oldest Vauxhall Cavalier in the UK

Lou first entered the U.K on Monday 1st September 1975 and Lou was taken to the dealership launch of the Cavalier Mk1 which was held at Elstree Studios from Monday 29th September 1975 which ran for approx. 2 weeks, Lou and the remaining Cavalier Mk1 vehicles was then stored at Elstree Studios underground car park until they was all used again for the Earls Court Motor Show which was on Wednesday 15th October 1975 to Saturday 25th October 1975 with the exception of the 2 Door Saloon G.L which was held back in the underground car park at Elstree Studios. Lou was also used in a promotional film made by Vauxhall Motors Ltd for the Cavalier Mk1, Lou was in all the cavalier mk1 brochures and in all model catalogues from Autumn 1975 to Winter 1976. Lou’s colour is signal yellow and Lou was the only cavalier to be painted in signal yellow in 1975 Signal yellow later became an optional colour from January 1976 to December 1976. Lou eventually found his way to Welch and Co in Bristol where he was eventually sold. Lou is currently the oldest Vauxhall Cavalier in the U.K and the only known surviving press release vehicle.  In more recent times Lou has appeared in: Practical Classics 2007, 2010, 2011 and 2014 Classic Car Weekly 2009, 2012, 2013 Classics Monthly 2010. The Sun Newspaper 2010. Classic Car Buyer Newspaper April Edition 2011 and November Edition 2011, May Edition 2012, November Edition 2012. Gridiron U.K ( Film ) and James May’s Cars Of The People ( T.V Programme ) Lou continues to make appearances at shows such as Luton Festival Of Transport, V.B.O.A Rally, The Pageant Of Power and the Footman James Classic Car Show Manchester and the N.E.C Classic Motor Show.
